Lag B’Omer is a day in the Jewish calendar that celebrates our Kabbalisic tradition and the life and work of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochi – the author of the Zohar. Please join The Aish Center and the ELP program for a special musical/mystical experience with two of the Jewish World’s finest musicians.
Rabbis Adam Jacobs and Yosef Rosen will share several core Kabbalistic ideas followed by musical interpretations (of those ideas) by Jamie Saft on piano and Greg Wall on Saxophone.
Saxophonist Greg Wall has performed and recorded with Hasidic New Wave, Greg Wall Trio, The Wall/London Band, Neshama Carlebach, the Hi-Tops, Greg Wall’s Unity Orchestra, and has made many session appearances for record dates and film scores. He was the musical voice of James Earl Jones in the recent feature film “On the QT”. Writing in Jazz Forum magazine Robert Buczek said, “Wall plays incredibly; his improvisations are well constructed and convincing.” The Cleveland Plain Dealer adds, “He plays with a consistent power and imagination.”
Jamie Saft is a keyboardist and multi-instrumentalist, composer, sound engineer and producer living in Upstate New York. Saft was born in Flushing Queens, New York in 1971 and is a graduate of both Tufts University and the New England Conservatory of Music. He has performed and recorded with John Zorn, Bobby Previte, Merzbow and many others. He has also written several original film scores including Murderball and God Grew Tired of Us.
